5/5 Stars!

Goodreads Synopsis:

Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.

Mara Dyer, you have forever ruined me for all other books.

I thought, after reading a few reviews and the description and imagining every possible & plausible plot twist I could think of, that it would be predictable. That I could figure you out. But I was wrong. Because I don't have a clue what just happened after reading this book.

Reasons to Read:

  1. It will mess with your head:Promise. You may not like it, but it will. You think you know what's going on and BAM, something happens to make you second guess that. It's probably the most unpredictable book I've ever read, and I love that because sometimes I read a book and wonder, "Have I read this before? No, just the other 5 books like it". Mara Dyer doesn't fit into any category- it creates its own.
  2. Chemistry so hot, the pages spark:
I'm such a sucker for witty banter, and the back-and-forth between Mara and Noah made me squirm in anticipation - very witty, absolutely contageous, reminiscient of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett (oh, I went there. Not saying it's the same, but the banter at times between the two of them? I see it). Plus, Noah is just hot enough on his own. He could just stand there, do nothing, and he'd still have us swooning over him. Sometime please tell me he's real and get me his number.
  3. Creep-factor:
Read this on a gray, gloomy, rainy day. I didn't find Mara Dyer to be as scary as I had thought it would be, but it's far creepier in a disturbing, bizarre kind of way. Besides the way it plays with your mind and reality, there are some scenes that Michelle Hodkin writes so well they are just plain freaky. With just enough of a dose of reality in them that you could see them actually happening... to an extent...
Let me just say that Mara Dyer has gone viral for a good reason- there's nothing forgettable or dull about it. I don't even know how I can write a review to do it justice or explain it to you without giving any of it away. I don't even know how to explain it, period. It is well worth the time and money to purchase this book and read it. Then maybe read it again, just so you can confirm that you still don't have any idea what to make of it. Then we can all be anxious for another YEAR while we wait for the sequel.

If you HAVEN'T bought a copy yet, I have an affiliate link for The Book Depository for only $10.21 with free shipping. Now THAT'S a steal of a deal. And it's such a pretty book, especially to have sitting on your book shelf.

Thanks for your GREAT review! I have been excited to read this book for awhile now after finding it on Goodreads. It is now my top priority to get it and read it this week! You did a great job in your review with enticing the reader without giving it away. My fear with this book was it would be close to Imaginary Girls, beautifully written but lack of characterization and plot. I am hopeful again! Thanks!!!!

The storyline kept me hooked till the very last page. The characters were amazing developed and original...kind of...but who cares. It was a really great book that i would definitely recommend to others. Even though i would totally read the upcoming books in the series...I really thought it should have just ended in the one book.
