Authors/Publishers: What you can expect from Esther's Ever After
First of all, please note our review policy below. It contains extensive details regarding our policy for review books.
It is important to us, as readers, that book reviews always be honest. Negative reviews are posted. But we strive to always be fair, and our reviewing the contents of the book itself.
Book information is included with the book (title, series, author, release date, ISBN13, publisher/imprint, synopsis, explanation of how we received the book, book trailer if available, as well as a purchase link to Amazon, Amazon Canada, Barnes & Noble, Chapters Indigo, The Book Depository and Audible if available).
Review requests we are interested in accepting will receive a response either accepting or requesting more information.
Review Policy
FTC disclaimer: In all of my reviews, I specify how the book was received. I purchase may books myself, and I also accept books for review (both ARCs and finished copies). Books I receive for review are provided to me for free, and I receive no compensation for my review.
I'm happy to receive review requests, and you can best contact me (Brenna) through e-mail. You can also e-mail Dorian if you have a book you would like her to consider personally.
We focus on Young Adult books, but will consider some Middle Grade as well. Brenna is also willing to read books that may be considered "New Adult" or older YA, but we will not accept books considered to be adult fiction or ones that are erotic in nature. We also do not accept non-fiction, except in cases where the book is very closely related to YA.
Please note that we are no longer accepting sef-published books for review as of July 2012. There is an exception for those self-published authors whose work we have reviewed before and gave a positive review. As much as we have enjoyed and value some self-published books, we have come to a point where we simply receive too many requests to continue reviewing self-published books.
We prefer reading paperback or hardcover books when reviewing, because it makes it easier to take notes while reviewing. However, we may choose to accept e-books available to read on a Kindle.
My reviews will be completed in a timely manner, to the best of my abilities. I will not post a review more than a week before the release date, and if there is a preference regarding when a review should be posted I will do my best to fulfill that preference.
I do my best to keep my reviews spoiler-free.
I write fair reviews; they are my honest and candid opinion. I am aware that I won't enjoy every book I read, but I do not believe in attacking the author. I want my reviews to be as constructive as possible; if you have a problem with one of my reviews, please send a courteous e-mail. I will explain why I did not enjoy a book because I believe that book reviews are subjective.
My reviews are also posted to my Goodreads account, Amazon.ca (if applicable), Amazon.com, and I can post to other websites if I am asked to do so.
Affiliate Policy
As of September 26, 2011 I am now a Book Depository.com affiliate. This means that I have a button to link to the Book Depository website, as well as a button linking you to BD in my posts regarding books if you decide you would like to purchase a book. If you do purchase from the Book Depository after accessing BD via one of these buttons/links on my blog, I do receive a 5% commission.
I chose to do this so that I could use the commission to help support giveaways from my blog; a large majority of the books I offer up in giveaways come from the Book Depository and it offers FREE worldwide shipping along with competitive prices, which are some of the reasons I chose to be affiliated with them.
Similarily, in early 2012 I also became an Amazon affiliate with the same conditions.
Rating System
I use a rating system of five stars, but this is only a tool to help readers get a feel for how I enjoyed the book. Reviews are subjective; these are based off of my opinion of the book. My rating system is explained when the rating is given.
As of December 15, 2011 I have decided to stop rounding up my star ratings on Goodreads and consumer sites. If a book is given 2.5 stars, it will show up as 2 stars but I will mention the 2.5 rating in my review.
