The 48 Hours Book Challenge 2012

Sometimes I get these crazy ideas where I'm like "oh hey, it's a GREAT idea you sign up for a reading challenge where you will read for HOURS". But one thing I've learned from blogging is that readathons are actually perfect for me. I love a group effort of dedicated reading! And I always need more time to read- this gives me a perfect excuse.

And conveniently it's summer and I'm not in school so I can afford to read as much as I want to, basically.

So here we are! Mother Reader's 48HBC 2012 Edition. I'm *hoping* for 24 hours, but I may not make that seeing as I kind of forgot that I'm out of town for a chunk of time on Sunday... which will conveniently cut into my 48 hour reading period. And I worked today. Oops!

Not really sure how many books I can read in this challenge, so we're going to find out.

  • The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
  • First Comes Love by Katie Kacvinsky
  • Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo
  • Falling Kingdoms by Michelle Rowan
  • Insurgent by Veronica Roth
  • Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep
  • Snow White & the Huntsman by Lily Blake, John Lee Hancock, and Hossein Amini
I might switch around some of these depending on my mood... but this is what I'm hoping for right now!

Starting point: 5:40 p.m. on Friday, June 8th.

FINISHED: Completed 3 books and was on book #4 when the Readathon ended :) Total of 15 hours and 20 minutes worth of reading time. About 2 hours blogging.

Books read: The Golden Lily, First Comes Love, Shadow and Bone, and started Kiss of Frost.

Best of luck with your challenge. I haven't done an official readathon, but I think I might need to try one out. Sounds like a lot of fun. I DID tell my friend we should do one with just us though.

I always comment back,

I am extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog.

Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself?
Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it's rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays.

Good luck! I haven't done any challenges like this before, but I will try to find some when I have more time. Sounds fun ^^

Insurgent looked a little daunting for the challenge, so I read it earlier in the week. I always love this weekend, even though I emerge somewhat woozy and tired of reading at the end of it!

I didn't know Snow White and the Huntsman was a book! That's cool. The "it's summer and I'm not in school" thing is really great for me, too. And more dedicated time for reading is perfect, too. I can tell people that I'm busy all weekend and have a link to direct them to to show them I'm not just putting them off.

This is belated, but good luck! This sounds awesome, if exhausting. O_O

Hope you've had a good time, I always love this challenge and did not get to participate the past couple of years. It's been great fun this weekend being back in the 48HRC saddle. Have a good week and Book People Unite!

Looks like a nice selection of books -- I hope you are enjoying the last little bit of your challenge! I still have several hours to go on mine.
