Readathon: Bout of Books

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

From May 14th to 20th, I'll be particpating in the Bout of Books 4.0 Readathon! I have lots of reading to catch up on, so I'll be trying to partipate as best I can while work full time this week as well lol. I'll be updating with my progress on this post.

Goals:

I'm hoping to read 10 books and finish one audio book (I'm halfway through Graceling). It's a lot to do, but I *think* I can do it if I focus!

Books to read:

These are all books I can choose from as I'm reading. Some times my mood changes, and these ones all need to get read ASAP; there's a few starred ones that I HAVE to read this week.
  • *This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summers
  • *Auracle by Gina Rossati
  • Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell
  • The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson
  • The Green Eyed Queen of Suicide City by Kevin Marc Fournier
  • The Night She Disappeared by April Henry
  • Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep
  • Take A Bow by Elizabeth Eulberg
  • Immortal City by Scott Speer
  • The Weepers by Susanne Winnacker
  • The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis
  • Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
  • AUDIO: finish Graceling by Kristin Cashore (about 5 hours)
  • Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
  • Gilt by Katherine Longshore
  • Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
  • Mister Death's Blue Eyed Girls by Mary Downing Hahn
  • Revived by Cat Patrick
Clearly, I'm getting behind on my reading. This is my chance to get caught up hopefully! There's a good mix of print and e-books. The audio book will be handy for when I'm working out and driving to work :) Note that I don't plan to read ALL of the above listed books, that's just the list I'll be choosing from.

Update #1:
May 14th - Readathon begins! I started reading at about 5:30 a.m. by listening to Graceling on audio while driving to the gym.
9:30 a.m.: I'm finishing up Touch of Frost today (because I didn't finish it last night like I had planned to!) and read about 100 pages of it this morning (I was about 140 pages in when I began this morning). Also, I've listened to 40 minutes of Graceling.
Update #2:
Day 1 (May 14th) of the readathon is now over! I finished Touch of Frost (that's 210 pages), started the e-galley of The Weepers (20 pages of the PDF), started The Green-Eyed Queen of Suicide City (50 pages), and listened to about 2 hour and 15 minutes of Graceling. :) Today I'm hoping to finish off Green-Eyed Queen, and start something new.

Update #3:
Day 2(May 15th) was a pretty good readathon day for me! I finished The Weepers (261 pages, I read the e-galley) and finished The Green-Eyed Queen of Suicide City (I read 140 pages of that yesterday to finish it off). As well, I started Goddess Interrupted (49 pages). Yesterday I only listened to about 10 minutes of Graceling! Eek, I need to keep going with that...
That means I have now finished 3 books, and I'm currently working on 3 others (I started Code Name Verity this morning).

Update #4:
Day 3 (May 16th) kind of ended up being a struggle for me... I read about 15 pages of Goddess Interrupted and only about 35/40 ish of Code Name Verity. I'm having a REALY hard time getting into Code Name Verity for some reason. It's in journal format and I STRONGLY dislike books written with that narrative. So I'm going to blame it on that. But I did listen to an hour of Graceling and I'm almost done that, yay!

Update #5:
Day 4 (May 17th) was another slow day for me, ugh! I'm having a VERY hard time getting into Code Name Verity and only read about another 25 pages. It's slowing me down right now, so I've decided to put it aside for a while and start something new today. Read another 25 pags of Goddess Interrupted. BUT I listened to Graceling for an hour and a half and finished it! So I've read 3 print books and finished the audio book (I was halfway through it already when the readathon began).

Final Update:
I had a busier weekend than I planned, so it took a little bit longer to get this update up! I didn't meet my goal unfortunately, but I still read a fair amount and accomplished a lot!
I finished the last 210 pages of Touch of Frost.
I started & finished 3 books: The Green-Eyed Queen of Suicide City (190 pages), The Weepers (261 pages), False Covenant (250 pages).
I started but did not finish: Goddess Interrupted (about 90 ish pages), Code Name Verity (95 pages), and Fire (138 pages).
I also finished Part 2 of the Graceling audiobook, which was just under 6 hours!
That's a total of 1234 pages read in a 7 day period; but I'm pretty happy with this at least because I got a huge chunk of reading done AND this was all done while I still working full time! So that isn't too bad.
And I had so much fun & got to talk to some other participants that I hadn't talked to before, so that was great!

Those are some seriously awesome books! I would die to read Auracle, because it sounds SO good, and the cover is gorgeous as well. Unearthly is super awesome, it's such a good pick for a readathon! I also have Gilt in my pile, I hope to get to it. Good luck, and I hope you reach all your goals for the readathon! =)

Great list! I really enjoyed This is Not a Test and Auracle was fun. I've seen Of Poseidon on quite a few lists (including my own) looks like that's the title to read this week.

I always do reading-marathons with my friends every summer, because we just love doing nothing but reading for a week. It's really fun with lots of food too!
I would love to participate in this readathon, but sadly I have finals coming up =(
Good luck with the readathon and I'm sure you'll achieve your goal!

Read your responses to the Book Confessions survey and wanted to stop by to wish you the best of luck reaching your reading goals for today! I didn't get very far with my own goals yesterday--hoping for a more productive reading day today!! (Too many other things to do when at home with two little boys!! Custodian, maid, cook, nurse, playmate, referee...all of these things seem to take up the majority of my day, lol! Happy reading!!
